Husband And Wife And 3 Children From Pariaman, West Sumatra, Were Killed In The Matraman Fire

JAKARTA - A family from Kayu Tanam, Padang Pariaman Regency, West Sumatra, was killed in a fire in Matraman, East Jakarta.

The family from Padang Pariaman who lives in one of the rented houses is Beni (42) who is the head of the family, his wife is named Nova (43) and their three children, namely Fani (20), Bebe (15) and Beno (8).

"They lived in the rented house for a long time, about 10 years. The whole family died and did not have time to save themselves," said a relative of Beni and Nova, Gepridoni at the Funeral Home of RSCM Central Jakarta, quoted by Antara, Thursday, March 25.

Gepridoni explained that the bodies of Beni and Nova, as well as their three children, would be taken to their hometown in Kayu Tanam, Padang Pariaman.

Currently, all relatives are processing the death documents for the Beni and Nova families to be taken to Padang Pariaman using Citilink airline aircraft.

From Antara's observation at the location, dozens of relatives from Beni and Nova were seen still waiting to return the victim's body.

According to relatives, Beni and Nova only have relatives and distant relatives in Jakarta, while all of their close relatives are in Padang Pariaman.

Another relative, Fendi, who is also a friend of junior high school alumni and a friend from a village, Beni, said the family at Kayu Tanam had prepared a funeral.

"The grave has been dug, it is ready for the arrival of the bodies. Later it will be made wider because it will be buried in one burrow for five chests," said Fendi.

Previously, a severe fire broke out in a densely populated settlement in Pisangan Baru III Matraman at 04.50 WIB.

A total of 10 residents died in the fire accident. Meanwhile, the East Jakarta Damkar deployed 14 fire engines to extinguish the flames that were suspected to have originated from an electrical short circuit.
