Ducati Keeps Gangsi, Refuses To Make Cheap Motorcycles

JAKARTA - The trend of big motorcycle manufacturers (moge) entering the motorcycle segment with small engine capacities and affordable prices is increasingly booming. Triumph and Harley-Davidson alone have started playing in the 400 cc class. However, Ducati has a different stance.

Ducati CEO, Claudio Domenicali, firmly stated that Ducati would not make a motorcycle with a small capacity.

"Ducati is a premium brand, and we will continue to maintain its prestige," said Domenicali, quoted from the Paultan page, Wednesday, August 14.

He added that Ducati is a dream brand and premium and has a certain prestige that is very attached.

Despite having released a derivative of the 800 ccdiambler, namelyegible Sixty2 for certain markets, Ducati admits that the bike was less successful because the price was considered too high for its engine capacity.

The motorbike was produced in response to the requirements for motorcycle licensing in Japanese and Australian markets, unfortunately Sixty2 was less successful in sales due to its price.

"We will not compromise with Ducati's quality and performance, even though the engine capacity is smaller, the same engineering quality remains with the engine and we cannot make it cheaper", said Marco Biondi, Vice President of Sales and Marketing of Ducati Asia Pacific.
