PSSI Please SUGBK Grass Is Ready For The Indonesia Vs Australia National Team Match

PSSI through the Secretary-General (Sekjen), Yunus Nusi, hopes that the grass of the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK) is ready to be used for the Indonesian national team match against Australia.

The Indonesia vs Australia National Team Meeting is an agenda for the Third Round of the 2026 Asian Zone World Cup Qualification. The match will be held on September 10, 2024.

Given the importance of the match, SUGBK is expected to be a venue when the Garuda Squad host Australia. This is still being pursued to this day because it is known that grass in SUGBK is being revitalized.

Regarding this matter, Yunus Nusi appreciated the Bung Karno Sports Complex Management Center (PPKGBK) regarding the maintenance of SUGBK grass. He considered that there were significant developments for grass readiness to hold the Indonesian national team match in the Third Round of the 2026 World Cup Qualification.

"PSSI thanks PPKGBK for trying its best to install the best grass ahead of the match against Australia. I again checked the condition of SUGBK grass, there are significant developments," said Yunus Nusi, quoted from PSSI's official website on Tuesday, August 13, 2024.

Seeing these positive developments, Yunus Nusi hopes that this will pave the way so that SUGBK can really be used as a home when hosting Australia.

In addition, Yunus Nusi also appealed to football lovers in the country and the media to be wiser in providing information on the development of SUGBK grass.

"We hope that SUGBK grass is ready to hold a match against Australia," said the PSSI Secretary General.

"I hope the news about the condition of grass to be wiser because I see on social media a lot of news that is not in accordance with the facts. Let's help the Indonesian national team, help PSSI, to report the true news," he said.

Meanwhile, the President Director of PPKGBK, Rakhmadi A. Kusumo, said that the maintenance of the SUGBK field is currently in the grass saturation stage.

Previously, in July 2024, PPKGBK had held a Zoysia Matrella grass to coat the main field.

"It is true that grass in SUGBK is still in the saturation stage after the installation of grass. As GBK managers, we have made maximum efforts to ensure grass grows strong and is in the best condition," said Rakhmadi.

Currently, SUGBK managers are working on three stages of treatment, namely providing the best intake for grass through intensive maturation, rolling, verticut, and top dressing processes in order to achieve optimal equity, as well as checking and testing technical functions regularly.

"We believe that with this intensive care, grass will be more suitable for use in accordance with international standards."

"However, in the end, as the manager, we will follow the final decision regarding the feasibility of the grass that will be determined by the FIFA or AFC Match Competition through the final check," said Rakhmadi.
