42 Teenagers Arrested By Police While Brawling With Sajam And Bows In Kebon Jeruk

JAKARTA - A total of 42 teenagers equipped with various sharp weapons (sajam) could only surrender when caught by the West Jakarta Metro Police Precision Pioneer Patrol Team. They were arrested while carrying out a brawl on Jalan Sasak I Duri Kepa, Kebon Jeruk District, West Jakarta.

"Of the 42 teenagers, 6 large sickle blades, 1 duck cast, 2 fireworks, 1 arrow, 2 arrows, 1 machete, and 1 samurai blades were confiscated," said Head of Samapta Polres Metro West Jakarta, AKBP M Hari Agung Julianto when confirmed, Monday, August 12.

The arrest of 42 teenagers began with a public report about a group of youths who were in groups and carrying sharp weapons.

Responding to the report, the patrol team immediately headed to the location in question. Arriving at the scene, the team found a group of youths in accordance with the characteristics in the report.

After that, officers gave chase and arrest. During a field search, the team found various sharp weapons and firecrackers that were suspected of being used in the brawl.

"All the teenagers involved along with the evidence were then taken to the Kebon Jeruk Police for further investigation," he said.

Furthermore, AKBP Agung said the police would continue to monitor and patrol to maintain security and order in the West Jakarta area.

With this firm action, it is hoped that the security situation in West Jakarta can be more maintained and preventive action against brawls can be more effective.

AKBP Agung appealed to the entire community, especially parents, to pay more attention to the association of children and adolescents.

"We remind parents to be active in providing guidance and supervision, as well as educating children about the negative impacts of acts of violence and brawls," he said.
