Build A Factory In Indonesia, BYD Reveals The Focus Of Domestic Market

JAKARTA - BYD has a strong commitment in Indonesia by building factories and research centers in the country. The factory will be located in Subang, West Java.

The factory covering an area of more than 108 hectares is planned to start operating in January 2026. So are there plans to export cars from this factory in the country? Considering that BYD sales in several neighboring countries are relatively high.

For example, in Singapore, based on data from best-sellingcarsblog, BYD sales in the country rose 10 times from year to year in February 2024 to 17.6 percent. Even overtaking sales of Toyota, Mercedes Benz to BMW.

"Currently we are still in the stage of forming a production strategy, and we will focus on domestic focusing first," said Head of Marketing & Communication of PT BYD Motor Indonesia Luther Panjaitan, when met in the Bandung area, some time ago.

As is known, currently BYD already has various models launched in Indonesia, ranging from Dolphin, Atto 3, Seal and M6 which recently launched at the GIIAS 2024 event.

Model M6 itself is considered very acceptable in society with orders booming during exhibitions and from the official BYD dealer network.

Returning to the BYD factory, the man who is familiarly called Luther revealed that construction has started, will carry out a ceremony as soon as possible.

"Ground breaking is only ceremonial, the important thing is the process and we have carried out the construction process (factories)," he said.
