Gunawan Hangs Up His Shoes From IBL After Four Years Joining Amartha Hangtuah

JAKARTA - Gunawan chose to hang up his boots from the Indonesian Basketball League (IBL) at the end of the 2024 season. The 1.9-meter-high player started his professional career since 2012 and he defended Hangtuah from 2020. After four years of joining Amartha Hangtuah Jakarta, he decided to retire.

On the IBL website, Saturday, August 10, the 31-year-old player chose not to continue his career in the highest caste Indonesian basketball league and Amartha became his last port.

Early in his career, he joined Satria Muda. The Samarinda-born player played three seasons in the Indonesian National Basketball League (NBL) or the league name before IBL.

After changing its name to IBL, the player with the shooting guard (SG) position remained in the Satria Muda squad until the 2017-2018 season.

During that time period, he had two championship rings. However, after inhabiting the big club, he had stopped playing in the 2018-2019 season.

Then he reappeared at IBL, in 2020 and chose to join Hangtuah.

During his four years in Hangtuah's uniform, Gunawan appeared in a total of 91 regular round matches and in 2022, he played two playoffs.

Especially in the 2024 Indonesian Basketball League (IBL), he doesn't have much playing time.

Quoted from ANTARA, the player who was born December 23, 1992, only dropped 14 regular round matches with an average of 11.2 minutes per game.

He scored an average of 2.8 points per game (ppg) and 1.1 rebounds per game (rpg), and twice scored 10 points in one game in the last season.

Meanwhile, this season, Amartha Hangtuah Jakarta ends the regular round in 10th place in the IBL final standings.
