Mind ID Showcases Line Of Environmentally Friendly Technology In Mining Industry

JAKARTA - BUMN Mining Industry Indonesia (Mind ID) revealed a number of environmentally friendly technologies in the mining industry at the 2nd New Renewable Environment, Climate, Forestry and Energy Festival (LIKE) at the Jakarta Convention Center.

"In implementing one of the pillars of the Sustainability Pathway, the Mind ID Group is committed to implementing water management with strong, transparent, effective and sustainable water management," Arief said in a statement to the media, Saturday, August 10.

Arief explained that a number of water management initiatives were carried out by the Mind ID Group, among others, by Antam through the advanced water treatment plant installation as an effort to improve the quality of processed wastewater to clean water. Antam also maximizes the use of recirculating water for the production process and other uses.

PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) applies the method of passively processing of mining acid (made wet) in Tanjung Enim. PTBA also recycles mine acid water with the Water Gate System into clean water for a number of activities such as office needs, cleaning up the Coal Handling Facility (CHF) and watering mining roads.

Furthermore, PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) which is building a new desalination factory as a water source for the Manyar smelting plant.

Meanwhile, PT Indonesia Asahan Alumunium (Inalum) which encourages the optimization of the Sigura-gura hydropower plant to increase the efficiency of water use. Through the implementation of more efficient technology, the Sigura-gura hydropower plant has succeeded in minimizing unnecessary water loss and increasing the optimal use of water in the process of generating electricity.

Finally, PT Vale Indonesia (VALE) implemented the SWAP Tau Steam, Water, Air and Power online monitoring system application to monitor water use.

Arief added that the Mind ID Group also encourages the use of renewable energy as a commitment to overcome the challenges of climate change that occur.

It is noted that throughout 2023, 41 percent of the internal energy consumption of the Mind ID Group has come from renewable energy, both solar pv, biofuel and hydropower.
