Bring Escape Boyfriend Still Underage And Uproar Garut Residents, MF Police Arrested

JAKARTA - The Garut Police (Polres) arrested a young man who was reported to have kidnapped an underage girl who was his girlfriend without her parents' permission for two weeks, in Garut Regency, West Java.

"This suspect took the victim without parental consent for about 15 days, the motive of this suspect is because he has a close relationship with the victim," said Garut Police Chief AKBP Adi Benny Cahyono during a press conference to reveal the child abduction case, in Garut, reported by Antara, Wednesday, March 24th.

He said that the suspect's initials MF (19), a Bandung resident, took away a minor with the initials KR (17) and was reported missing by the victim's family on March 7, 2021.

The kidnapping, said the Police Chief, had made a scene in the Garut community, including on social media, so that the police immediately conducted an investigation and traced the whereabouts of the victim.

"This case started with a post that he was kidnapped, we from the Garut Police investigated and disseminated this information outside of Garut," he also said.

He conveyed that the results of the investigation of the victim were taken by the suspect after tutoring at Tarogong Kidul, Garut, then taken to Bandung, then to Central Java to Bali, and secured in Banyuwangi, East Java.

The suspect took the victim to a number of areas using a public bus, then to make ends meet while on the trip using the money from the sale of his valuables.

"The motive is a close relationship, and this is a recurring incident, the motive is the same, going alone with the suspect," he said again.

He said that because his girlfriend's actions were reported to the police, his party was carrying out legal proceedings against the suspect.

As a result of his actions, the suspect was charged with Article 76F in conjunction with Article 83 of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 35 of 2014 concerning amendments to Law Number 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection with the threat of three years imprisonment, a fine of IDR 60 million, a maximum of IDR 300 million.

"The penalty is three years, a fine of Rp. 60 million," he also said.

As a result of his actions, the suspect is now languishing in the Garut Police Headquarters detention cell to undergo further legal examination.
