2 Children In Riau Drown In A 4-Meter Hole Ex-Excavated, Family Refuses To Perform An Autopsy
RIAU - Atta Fatar Maulan (7) and Aan Adi Putra (5) died drowning in an ex-excavated hole C in Pasir Sialang Village, Bangkinang District, Riau, Monday, March 22. Police in Kampar District, Riau Province, appealed to local people to be more vigilant in child supervision.
"Due to this incident, we urge the public to increase supervision of children while playing, so that similar incidents do not happen again," said Kapolsek Bangkinang Kota, Iptu Era Maifo, to the media crew quoted from Antara, Wednesday, March 24.
The bodies of these two poor children were found lifeless in the former excavation C which was up to four meters deep. C excavation activities such as rock and soil extraction are found in Kampar District, the majority of which are carried out by local people.
This excavation activity leaves gaping holes in the ground and also dredges the cliffs that are prone to landslides.
Information from eyewitnesses showed that the two victims were last seen on Monday afternoon around 14.00 WIB, while playing bicycles around their house in Teratak Domo Hamlet RT 002 RW 002 Pasir Sialang Village.
Then around 16.00 WIB the two of them were not seen again. The two victims' fathers looked for the two boys around the village, and found the victim's bicycle, clothes and sandals on the side of the road not far from the hole C.
The victim's family informed the surrounding community. The family and the community then looked for the two victims in the former C excavation. "Residents are looking for victims and are diving in the former C excavation," he said.
On Monday night at around 23.00 WIB, he continued, the first victim was found, namely Aan Adi Putra, in a lifeless condition.
"About 20 minutes later, the second victim Atta Fatar Maulana also died," he said.
After the victim is taken to the funeral home, it is appropriate for the residents to inform the police about this incident. However, the victim refused to do an autopsy by making a certificate.
