Police Arrest Drug Dealer in OKU South Sumatra, 7 Packages of Crystal Meth Ready for Distribution Secured
SUMSEL - Police confiscated seven packages of crystal methamphetamine ready for distribution from a drug dealer in Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU), South Sumatra (Sumsel).
The dealer was arrested while distributing the illicit goods in the Sultan Mahmud Badarudin Street area, Kemala Raja Village, Baturaja Timur District, OKU, Monday, August 5 at 10:30 WIB.
"The suspect with the initials RU (31) is a resident of Lubuk Batang District, OKU Regency," said OKU Police Chief AKBP Imam Zamroni in Baturaja, OKU, Tuesday, August 6, as quoted by Antara.
From the suspect, the police confiscated seven packages of crystal methamphetamine with a gross weight of 3.14 grams, one clear plastic ball clip, one digital scale and one mobile phone.
"We have secured the suspect at the OKU Police Headquarters and will be charged with Article 114 paragraph (1) and Article 112 paragraph (1) of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics," he said.
Based on the data, he said, this year during the period January-June 2024, 51 cases of narcotics abuse were successfully uncovered by the OKU Police.
Of the number of cases, 62 suspects ranging from dealers to distributors were secured with evidence of 207.08 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 171.71 grams of marijuana and 73 ecstasy pills.
"From these arrests, at least we have managed to save 2,658 OKU Regency residents from the dangers of drugs," said the Police Chief.
