Itala Citizen Dies Falling From Cliff While Taking A Photo At Tabanan Bali Falls
DENPASAR - An Italian foreigner Zicari Giancarlo (49) died as a result of falling from a cliff while taking selfies with his girlfriend in the waterfall area of Gajah Mas villa, Banjar Baturiti Kelod, Baturiti District, Tabanan Regency, Bali, Sunday (4/8).
"It is suspected that the victim died as a result of falling from the top of the villa waterfall area in Gajah Masse jauh 25 meters," said Head of Public Relations of the Tabanan Police, Iptu I Gusti Made Besa in his statement, Monday, August 5.
He explained that on Sunday, August 4, 2024, at around 10.45 WITA, the victim and his girlfriend Biagi Ilaria departed from the Homm Saranam Hotel to take a walk to the Villa Gajah Mas Banjar Baturiti kelod, Baturiti Village, Baturiti District, Tabanan. Before arriving at their destination, the two had time to shop at the market.
After that, at around 11.15 p.m. the victim and his girlfriend continued their journey to the location of the waterfall. The waterfall is about 500 meters below Villa.
At around 11.20 WITA, the victim and his girlfriend arrived at a terrace containing two wooden seats with an iron fence to limit visitors from falling.
The victim then invited his girlfriend to take a selfie with a cliff view set, along with a waterfall with a back to the fence and made the fence a focus.
Suddenly, the fence that was used as the focus experienced a landslide down because it was not strong enough to withstand the focus followed by the victim and his girlfriend. Both of them also fell from the terrace area down to the waterfall area, approximately 25 meters high.
After falling into the waterfall area, the victim's girlfriend Biagi realized that with abrasions and dizziness, she immediately walked up slowly while asking for help.
After the victim's girlfriend arrived on top in the terrace area of Gajah Mas villa, the victim received help from a female Ukrainian citizen Sokoliuk Viktoria who happened to be spending the night at Villa Gajah Mas.
Seeing the incident experienced by the victim's girlfriend, witnesses and villa security officers tried to help the victim's girlfriend to be taken up to the Villa Gajah Mas lobby for medical assistance.
After that, the victim was rushed to the Baturiti Health Center, Tabanan to get help. However, the doctor on duty stated that the victim could not be helped.
"From the victim's side, he refused an autopsy, and accepted the incident as a disaster," said Besa.
