Gekira National Dialogue: Differences As A Welfare And Assets Of The Nation

JAKARTA - The Great Indonesia Christian Movement (Gekira) held a National Dialogue with the theme Caring for Differences in Creating Brotherhood and True Justice at the Bidakara Hotel Jakarta.

The event was attended by the Minister of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, Chairman of the Association of Indonesian Churches Pastor Gomar Gultom, Executive Secretary of the Commission for Relations between Religion and Trust Conference of Indonesian Church Mayor Father Agustinus Heri Wibowo, Deputy Chairman of Commission VIII DPR RI Abdul Wachid, and Agnes Marcellina Tjin from the Gekira Center leadership.

Chairman of the Board of Trustees Gekira Hashim Djojohadikusumo emphasized the importance of national dialogue amidst the diversity of Indonesian people. "Indonesia is a country rich in ethnic, cultural, religious and language diversity. In facing complex challenges and dynamics, national dialogue is becoming increasingly important as a means to strengthen national unity and integrity," said Hashim.

Hashim also stated that differences are the necessity and wealth of the nation. "Diversity is a necessity in life as a human being and also as a human being living in Indonesia. Prabowo's government will continue to care for the diversity of culture, religion, ethnicity, and ethnicity in Indonesia," he added.

General Chairperson of Gekira Fary Djemy Francis reminded Prabowo Subianto's message, "There are too few friends, there are too many opponents." Fary emphasized the importance of friendship and brotherhood in building a strong nation.

Nikson Silalahi, Chairman of the National Dialogue Committee and Gekira Working Meeting, explained that this dialogue was held to respond to issues of intolerance that are still happening. "This national dialogue is carried out because in the community there are incidents that continue to repeat themselves, namely people who find it difficult to accept differences," said Nikson. read also=-=Nikson also quoted the message of President-elect Prabowo Subianto regarding the importance of unity. "This dialogue reminds us of the message that Mr. Prabowo continues to convey, namely maintaining the unity and harmony of relations with each other. One of the conditions towards developed countries is that if the people unite," concluded Nikson.

Gekira is the wing of the Gerindra Party which is a forum for political struggles for Christian cadres in the Gerindra Party.
