KKB Chaired By Joni Botak Still Hanging Around Mile 43-50 In The Freeport Area, Papua Police Chief: People Are Prohibited From Entering
PAPUA - Papua Police Chief Inspector General Mathius Fakhiri has prohibited residents from temporarily entering the Mile 43-50 area in Mimika Regency. Currently, officers are in the area to hunt down the Kali Kopi armed criminal group (KKB) led by Joni Botak.
Mile 43-50 is a mining area owned by PT Freeport Indonesia. "As a result of the blockade, it is estimated that Joni bald and his group have experienced a shortage of logistics", said Papua Police Chief Inspector General Fakhiri in Jayapura as reported by Antara, Tuesday, March 23.
Because people are not allowed to do activities around the area if they are found they will be suspected of being members of the KKB.
Regarding the death of Demianus Newegalem, Sunday, March 21 last night around Mile 48, the Papua Police Chief admitted that from the report he received before he was shot, he shot a member of the Newangkawi Task Force.
"After the victim shot an arrow, the members immediately shot and hit the victim", explained Police Chief.
Police Chief hopes that for the time being residents will not enter the area. When asked how long the ban on entering Mile 43-50 was in effect, the Papua Police Chief stated that until Joni Botak was arrested.
"The shooting action carried out by Joni Botak and his group is very disturbing because the victims are not only the security forces but civilians", said Inspector General Fakhiri.
