The Tomb of COVID-19 In Palangka Raya, Central Kalimantan, Be Demolished

PALANGKA RAYA - The City Police of Palangka Raya, Central Kalimantan, is investigating the alleged demolition of the COVID-19 body in the Christian cemetery on Jalan Tjilik Riwut Km 12.

The Head of Operations Section of the Palangka Raya Police, Kompol Hemat Siburian, said that his party had assigned the criminal investigators to carry out an investigation.

"I have ordered the Head of the Detective Unit to investigate the motive for the demolition of the COVID-19 tomb, we even just found out today", said Hemat, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, March 23.

He said members of the Palangka Raya Police Detective also conducted direct checks regarding the unloading of the COVID-19 body whose information was transferred to another tomb.

The police are also looking for witnesses who are aware of the matter because the news has already spread in social media to the point of public discussion.

"We are still exploring this matter first, we will convey the conclusions later", he said.

Hemat emphasized that in this case, the police did not receive reports from the Palangka Raya City COVID-19 Handling Task Force Team or the Palangka Raya City Settlement and Land Service.

In addition to several witnesses who will later be questioned, the police will also conduct examinations of officers who manage Christian religious tombs located on Jalan Tjilik Riwut Km 12 and related agencies.

"We do not yet know the legal sanctions. What is clear is that this case will continue to be investigated so that the purpose of dismantling or transferring the body of COVID-19 will be known", said Hemat.

Meanwhile, the Chief Executive of the Palangka Raya City COVID-19 Handling Task Force once told that some time ago there were residents who applied for the removal of the COVID-19 tomb.

However, he did not know the details of these regulations, and as far as he knew the bodies of COVID-19 could be moved if the tomb had been one year old.

"I don't know the rules either, but if I've heard that the body of COVID-19 can be moved to another grave for one year", said Hemat Siburian.
