57 Thousand Elderly Pilgrims Waiting For The Turn Of Covid-19 Vaccination
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health will immediately vaccinate prospective pilgrims. Currently, there are tens of thousands of elderly pilgrims waiting for their turn.
"The Ministry of Health has started to vaccinate COVID-19 for prospective pilgrims, especially those who are elderly. Currently, more than 57 thousand elderly prospective pilgrims are waiting", said Wiku Adisasmito, spokesman for the Task Force for handling COVID-19 in an online press conference broadcast on the YouTube account of the Presidential Secretariat, Tuesday, March 23.
He said that this vaccination was at the same time awaiting an official decision from the Saudi Arabian government regarding the implementation of the Haj this year.
It is known that as of Tuesday, March 23, 5,732,210 people had received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination and 2,494,422 vaccines for the second dose. Meanwhile, the total vaccination targets reached 40,349,051 people.
Previously reported, the national COVID-19 vaccination program is targeted to receive 181.5 million people. They are people aged 18 years and over. Vaccine recipients receive twice the injection dose.
In the first phase, the vaccine is intended for 1.5 million health workers. In the second stage, COVID-19 vaccination is for the elderly and public service workers.
The target is 21.5 million elderly and 16.9 million public workers. They are market traders, educators, religious leaders and counselors, representatives of the people, officials, government, civil servants, TNI-Police, tourism officers, public services, public transportation workers, athletes, and media workers. This program lasts until May.
Furthermore, vaccination will be carried out for 63.9 million vulnerable people or people living in areas with a high risk of infection. Then, other communities as many as 77.7 million people.
Overall, this national vaccination will be carried out from April 2021 to March 2022.
