Flights At German Leipzig Airport Stopped 3 Hours Because Climate Activists Broke In

JAKARTA - German Leipzig/Halle Airport temporarily suspended flights on Thursday, August 1, the morning after climate activists took action to disrupt airports.

Air traffic at the airport in eastern Germany has been suspended for three hours, thus affecting cargo traffic, the airport said in a statement.

As reported by Reuters, Last Generation activists said they entered the airport area around midnight, without specifying how they got in.

Activists call on the German government to reach a global agreement to stop production of oil, gas and coal by 2030.

The group has recorded several countries in Europe and North America that will be the target of the protest campaign that began last month.

Last week, their actions forced two airports in Germany to temporarily stop air traffic.

Meanwhile, German politicians are demanding better protection for airports in the country after climate activists managed to break into fences and disrupt air traffic, including at the country's busiest airport, Frankfurt, for two consecutive days last week.
