Update On COVID-19 As Of March 25: Five Steps To Prevent

JAKARTA - The number of positive cases of corona virus or COVID-19 patients has increased. Based on data as of Wednesday, March 25, 105 new cases were found. Thus, the total is 790 people.

A spokesman for the handling of the corona virus or COVID-19, Achmad Yurianto (Yuri) said, in addition to the findings of new cases, there was an addition of positive COVID-19 patients due to data errors.

Previously, data per Tuesday, March 24, stated that there were 685 positive cases. However, when re-examined, it was found that one patient had almost the same identity, so there was an error in the data collection.

"Until today, there have been 105 additional positive cases. So that out of a total of 685 people, we will revise it because one person has been registered in two hospitals, bringing the total to 790 cases," said Yuri at Graha BNPB, Jakarta, Wednesday, March 25.

He explained that the addition of positive corona patients was based on the results of real time PCR examinations, not a rapid test.

Furthermore, for death data, Yuri said there was double data yesterday. The data has been corrected. Today, continued Yuri, coupled with data on 3 people who died from COVID-19, this means that there are a total of 58 people.

Meanwhile, the number of patients recovered also increased. It's just that, there is only one person. With these additions, there were 31 patient cases cured.

"Heal added 1 to 31 people. Our total report was positive 780, healed 31 people and died 58 people," said Yuri.

Five precautions

Yuri reminded the public to take steps that could break the chain of spreading COVID-19. There are five things that people must do to avoid this dangerous virus.

The first step that must be taken, namely, limiting physical contact with other people both indoors and outdoors. The reason is the spread of the COVID-19 virus by droplets through saliva. So, it is recommended to keep a distance of about 1.5 meters.

"It must be enforced to limit physical contact in daily life, not only outside the home but inside the home. This is important because this disease is transmitted from a sick person to a healthy person through saliva splashing when someone coughs, sneezes and talks," said Yuri.

Then, maintaining cleanliness by washing hands is also a must. Because, splashing saliva when sneezing or talking can be about objects around.

This can be a pattern of transmission because someone unconsciously will hold the object with the saliva. Then, the hand held the nose and mouth without realizing it or reflex.

The third way is more about education about COVID-19. Where, someone who is already experiencing symptoms such as Influeza, should be advised to have his body checked. Next, use a mask so that when you sneeze and cough, your saliva doesn't spread.

"If they are not feeling well with influenza-like symptoms, they must access health services for consultation. Use a mask when coughing and sneezing so that the dropplets don't go anywhere," said Yuri.

Next, do self-isolation. The goal is so that COVID-19 does not spread to anyone, including family members at home. While undergoing the quarantine period, those who have the potential should continue to monitor their situation through online applications, such as halodokter and so on.

The final step, by following a mass screening to ensure the condition of the body. So, when it is proven positive the medical staff will immediately take action.

"(Following) mass screening activities, mass examinations to perform screening. Mass examinations with rapid tests to confirm a person's immunology-based diagnosis," said Yuri.
