3 Days of Travel, TNI Checks RI-Papua New Guinea Border Markers

JAKARTA - The RI-PNG Yonif 111/KB Static Border Security Task Force checked the Indonesia-Papua New Guinea (RI-PNG) border marker MM 11.1 located in Boven Digoel Regency, South Papua.

Yonif 111/KB Task Force Commander Lieutenant Colonel Agus Satrio Wibowo explained that it took three days to reach the MM 11.1 border marker.

Based on his statement, Thursday, August 1, the MM 11.1 border marker is located in Boven Digoel Regency, South Papua, which is one of two regencies bordering PNG.

Boven Digoel and Merauke Regencies are two regencies in the south of Papua that border PNG.

The border marker patrol carried out by the RI-PNG Yonif 111/KB Border Security Task Force was attended by members of Topdam XVII/Cenderawasih and the Central Geospatial Information Agency led by Ardiawan Jati.

The inspection of boundary markers is part of the main task of the RI-PNG Yonif 111/KB Static Border Security Task Force in addition to maintaining security along the land border area.

Lieutenant Colonel Agus said that there are 14 state boundary markers on the southern border and must be checked to avoid shifting and damage.

In the future, the Central Geospatial Information Agency together with Topdam XVII/Cenderawasih will build and install 21 new pillars of boundary markers in the RI-PNG border area.
