Rizieq Shihab Session Suspended Again, Judge Suparman To Lawyer: Don't Go Home

JAKARTA - Rizieq Shihab's team of attorneys submitted data regarding the request for a hearing directly, or presented his client to the East Jakarta District Court.

The Panel of Judges, Suparman Nyompa, did not immediately respond to Rizieq Shihab's letter of request. They want to negotiate with member judges to decide whether to grant or reject.

"So it's fine, because there is still a panel of judges, (we will) deliberate on this petition so it will take time to discuss it," said Judge Suparman Nyompa at the East Jakarta District Court, Tuesday, March 23.

Thus, the trial with the agenda of reading Rizieq Shihab's exception on the alleged crowd in Petamburan was again suspended.

"So that we will suspend this trial again until we tell it later," said the Judge.

However, the judge asked the legal team to remain in the East Jakarta District Court. "That means don't go home after the trial is suspended. So the trial is suspended," said the Judge.

Previously the trial was suspended because Munarman, Rizieq Shihab's lawyer, argued with the prosecutor. The trial was again opened at 13.00 WIB. However, the trial was recently reopened because Rizieq's lawyer showed an offline court letter.

In this case, Rizieq Shihab was charged with incitement to the appearance of a crowd at his daughter's wedding in Petamburan, Central Jakarta. This crowd is taking place in the midst of the COVID-19 Pandemic.

"Doing, who orders to do and who participates in doing actions in public orally or in writing incites to commit a criminal act of health quarantine as referred to in Article 93 of Law Number 6 of 2018 concerning Health Canteen, committing violence against public authorities or disobeying both the provisions of the Law and a position order given is based on the provisions of the law, ”said the prosecutor reading the indictment.

According to prosecutors, Rizieq Shihab and Haris Ubaidillah, Ahmad Sabri Lubis, Ali Alwi Alatas, Idrus alias Idrus Al Habsyi and Maman Suryadi, incited incitement to the emergence of a crowd in Petamburan.
