East Java Students Pass National Highest 2021 SNMPTN, Khofifah: Extraordinary Prestasi

SURABAYA - The Governor of East Java, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, admitted that he was proud that the highest student from East Java passed the 2021 National Selection for State Universities (SNMPTN). Moreover, this achievement was made when East Java was still struggling with COVID-19.

"Last year, East Java was also in the first place with the highest number of students passing nationally. This year's figure reached 16,998 students, much higher than in 2020, which was 13,803 students. This is an extraordinary achievement and we must be grateful," said Khofifah in Surabaya, Tuesday. , March 23.

Based on data from the Institute for Higher Education Entrance Test (LTMPT), there were 110,459 people who passed SNMPTN in 2021. Of the number of applicants from East Java were 85,146 people, and the number accepted was 16,998, with a ratio of participants accepted to registrants of 19.96 percent.

The second rank is occupied by West Java province with the number of registrants as many as 93,612 and the number accepted as many as 10,715, with a ratio of participants accepted to registrants of 11.45 percent. While the third rank is occupied, Central Java Province with the number of registrants as many as 70,910 and the number accepted as many as 8,100, with a ratio of participants accepted to registrants of 11.42 percent

According to Khofifah, these results are the result of the hard work of students, school principals, teachers, parents, and the government in delivering quality education. However, during the past year the full teaching and learning process was carried out online, without face to face.

Khofifah hopes that this achievement can be accompanied by various other achievements when studying at higher education later. Khofifah also asked students who had not passed not to be discouraged or discouraged. According to him, there are still other ways to enter PTN, namely by participating in the Joint Selection to Enter PTN (SBMPTN) which will be held next April.

"I am sure that those who have not passed today, when the next SBMPTN will graduate or go through the university's independent pathway. The conditions are, remain enthusiastic, never give up, be optimistic, and continue to pray," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the East Java Education Office, Wahid Wahyudi, said that the achievement of the title as the Province with the most students received through the SNMPTN route was the result of the students' hard work with assistance from school principals, teachers and parents.

"Alhamdulillah, through intensive mentoring by teachers and effective communication between schools and parents, East Java students again showed proud achievements this year," he said.

Wahid Wahyudi also requested that teachers continue to work hard to assist their students who will take the Computer-Based Writing Examination (UTBK) to enter PTN through the State Higher Education Entrance Joint Selection (SBMPTN) which will be held in April 2021.
