Minister Of Home Affairs: 40 Acting Regional Heads Resign To Advance For The 2024 Regional Head Election

BADUNG - Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Muhammad Tito Karnavian said as many as 40 regional heads (Pj) in Indonesia had submitted their resignations. They will compete in the 2024 Pilkada.

Minister Tito said specifically the Acting Regional Head, starting from the Acting Mayor, regent to governor, would no later than submitting his resignation letter on July 17.

"Until now, we have received approximately 40 statements of resignation applications by the Acting Officers because they participated in the Pilkada. Especially for the Acting Officer, I have my own policy. I have conveyed yesterday that the Acting Officer should inform the Minister of Home Affairs that he wants to participate in the regional elections," said Tito in Badung, Bali, Tuesday, July 30.

The Ministry of Home Affairs is now preparing replacements for regional head officials with a time limit of three weeks.

"We will immediately prepare a replacement candidate because it will take at least three weeks. We ask for data from the DPRD, input from the governor, after which there will be a Pre-TPA (End Appraisal Team) trial which will be attended by the ministry of institutions, there will be a TPA trial chaired by the president, to determine his candidate for replacement," he added.

Meanwhile, members of the State Civil Apparatus (ASN) as well as the TNI and Polri who are still active and running for the 2024 Pilkada are given a limit to resign no later than 22 September 2024.

"The provisions of the Law for ASN, TNI, and Polri when they were appointed as candidate pairs by the KPU on September 22, 2024, at that time they had resigned from ASN. If not, yes it would not be determined, it would not pass, that would be the case, meaning that if they resigned before that (September 22, 2024)," said Tito.

However, for the registration date for the 2024 Pilkada candidates at the KPU on August 27, 2024, they may still be ASN and TNI and Polri.

"But the registration time is 27 (August 2024), they can still have ASN, TNI, and Polri status, because they don't necessarily pass. But, if they are in the process, they are sure, they resign, immediately submit their letters to the KPU. One of the requirements is that they must resign when set on September 22," he said.
