Free Nutritious Meal Trial In Tangerang City To Be Held Early August 2024

TANGERANG - Vice President-elect Gibran Rakabumi Raka revealed that the Free Nutritious Meals program will be tried out for the Tangerang City area in early August 2024.

"Tangerang maybe. If I'm not mistaken. Just now I was calculating the budget, maybe it will be ready next week, maybe next week I will come here again, just wait," said Gibran to reporters on Gang Asem Street, Babakan, Tangerang District, Tuesday, July 30.

Gibran said that the budget for the free nutritious meal program was not IDR 7,500. Because according to him, the amount would not be enough to buy the food.

"Well, I haven't been inaugurated yet, the point is once again it's impossible for 7,500, what do 7,500 get? What we have tested on around 15,000 includes milk, chicken, rice, vegetables, fruit," he concluded.

Previously reported, the National Food Agency (Bapanas) has greatly supported the free nutritious meal program in accordance with the policies and directions of the President and Vice President-elect Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

"Of course, we from the National Food Agency strongly support the government for this free lunch program.

"Supporting, that means if we talk about this free meal, whether it needs raw materials such as eggs and vegetables, we coordinate this, although later where the place will be, that will be the policy of the (future) government," said Acting Secretary of Bapanas Sarwo Edhy.

According to him, Bapanas itself has programs such as the Diverse, Nutritious, Balanced and Safe (B2SA) program and the Education and Provision of Nutritious Food for Students (Genius) Movement.

The Genius program was carried out by Bapanas to cultivate a culture of not wasting food and not leaving food and educating about nutritious and good food intake, so that a regular food intake pattern is created including getting used to breakfast.

Meanwhile, the B2SA Program is Bapanas' effort to raise public awareness from eating only to be full to eating healthily.

"What is clear is that we have the B2SA program, then there is the Genius program for students in a number of schools which are of course spread across the districts/cities that we have inventoried," he said.
