Grand Syekh Al-Azhar Condemns Parody Performance 'The Last Supplier' Paris Olympics
JAKARTA - Chairman of the Muslim Hukama Council (MHM) who is also Grand Sheikh Al-Azhar Ahmed Al-Tayeb strongly condemns one of the appearances at the opening of the 2024 Olympics in Paris which allegedly insulted Jesus Christ.The Grand Syekh views the appearance as reflecting the harassment of sacred and majestic piety and disrespecting the beliefs of religious people who believe in noble moral values of humanity."The MHM reiterated the attitude of rejecting any form of harassment against religious holy symbols," said Grand Syekh Ahmed Al Tayeb in his statement in Jakarta, as reported by Antara, Monday, July 29.The chairman of MHM stated that sporting events should be an event to celebrate cultural diversity and promote mutual respect between one nation and another.He reminded that utilizing events such as the Olympics to consider normal religious harassment or propagating social diseases that are destructive and out of human fitness, such as LGBT behavior, and imposing a lifestyle that is contrary to the sacred nature of humans is a dangerous act.Human Brotherhood Documents signed by Grand Sheikh Al-Azhar/Chairman of the Muslim Hukama Council and Catholic Church Leader Sri Pope Francis in Abu Dhabi in 2019, called on world leaders, policymakers, thinkers, philosophers, scholars, religious leaders, artists, and media crews around the world to fight all forms of cultural and moral decade.They are asked to rediscover the values of justice, goodness, peace, human brotherhood, and a harmonious and peaceful coexistence and emphasize the importance of these values as a savior for people's lives.
"They are also asked to disseminate these noble values to the wider community around the world," he said.Reporting from various sources, one of the opening acts of the Paris Olympics is suspected of insulting Christianity.
