Pure Electric Kijang Innova Tested in Indonesia, When will it Launch? This is TAM's Answer

PT Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM) only has one pure electric vehicle (EV) line sold in Indonesia, namely bZ4X, even globally, which is purely electric. However, the manufacturer is secretly testing other purely electrified products.

At the end of last year, a car called the Kijang Innova Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) or pure electricity was caught on camera being tested on Indonesian roads and a month ago the car was used as a shuttle service between I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport and The Stones Hotel in Bali. Then, what are the plans for the car in the future?

Marketing Director of PT TAM Anton Jimmi Suwandi, said that his party is still testing this model in its use both inside and between cities.

"It's still testing for use inside and outside the city. Moreover, we use it as a fleet at Bali airport," Anton told the media in Tangerang, Saturday, July 27.

As long as it is used for the fleet in Bali, Anton explains that the user's response is quite positive and hopes that there will be many other electric vehicles in Indonesia.

"In Bali itself, many fleet users responded positively, because many tourists hope that there will be more environmentally friendly vehicles," added Anton.

However, he could not confirm whether this model would be mass produced or sold in Indonesia because his party needed to see what kind of market movement would be. In addition, competitors such as BYD have released M6 as the first EV Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV) to be sold in Indonesia.

"We are still looking at the market first. Of course we will increase other electrification products," explained Anton.
