Spurs Singi Arsenal In The Hunt For Viktor Gyokeres

JAKARTA Tottenham Hotspur is ready to compete with their city rival Arsenal to sign Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres on this summer's transfer window.

Gyokeres had impressed with Championship club Coventry City before finally moving to Sporting Lisbon with a transfer of around 20 million.

With Sporting, the Swedish national team player was able to show brilliant performance. In 50 matches in all competitions last season, the 26-year-old scored 43 goals and provided 12 assists.

This is what makes Gyokeres the target of several big clubs across Europe this summer, including Arsenal, who are still hunting for new central strikers to welcome the 2024-2025 season. The Gunners were said to be the front club to bring in Gyokeres.

However, Football Insider revealed that Meriam London must face new competitors, namely Liverpool and Spurs. The coach of The Lilywhites, Ange Postecoglou intends to strengthen his front line ahead of the new season.

Because, after Harry Kane's departure to Bayern Munich last summer, they had not found a suitable replacement and had to rotate Heung-min Son and Richarlison to fill the center forward position.

The report added that despite getting competition from Spurs, Arsenal will still insist on signing Gyokeres. The plan, the Gunners will make an offer worth 55 million pounds sterling in the coming days.

Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta is believed to have insisted on signing Viktor Gyokeres following the disappointing performances of two of their current attackers, Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah. The two players only managed to score a total of nine goals last season, and Nketiah is said to have been on the sell list this summer.
