NU Young Generation Ready To Guard The DKJ Transition Process

JAKARTA - The younger generation of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) expressed readiness to oversee the transition process for the Special Capital City (DKI) Jakarta to become a Special Region for Jakarta (DKJ), including the implementation of Law Number 2 of 2024 concerning Special Regions for Jakarta (UU DKJ).

This was stated by Deputy Chairperson of the DKI Jakarta Nahdlatul Ulama Regional Management (PWNU), Abdul Aziz Suaedy in a joint discussion with the Alumni Council (MA) of the DKI Jakarta Nahdlatul Ulama Student Association (IPNU) and the DKI Jakarta IPNU Regional Management entitled Ngopi, Smart Chatting About NU Youth in DKJ and its Agglomeration, at the DKI Jakarta PWNU Office, Saturday, July 27.

Aziz said the younger generation of NU, especially IPNU, were being prepared to oversee the transition process, including the formation of its agglomeration areas.

"Those who are still IPNU uniforms are 22-25 years old, the other two decades are at the top aged 40-55, that's where the final points from DKJ and their agglomerations, which are initiated from now on, will be very clear," said Aziz.

Aziz said it was important for the younger generation of NU to welcome Jakarta, which is targeted to become a global financial city in 2045. Especially later, Jakarta and its agglomeration areas will be in the spotlight after Indonesia becomes one of the five countries with the strongest economies in the world in 2045.

The former Secretary of the DKI Jakarta IPNU from 1990 to 1993 also touched on the transition process of central government assets which is expected to occur in 10 years.

"According to the Financial Minister's report, there are assets worth IDR 1,464 trillion in Jakarta that need to be managed. When the central government moves to the State Capital (IKN) of the Archipelago in East Kalimantan, this must be guarded, so as not to trouble the people in the future," explained Aziz.

Aziz also highlighted the provisions of 5 percent of the DKJ Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD) allocation in the DKJ Law, to solve social welfare problems.

"We hope that today's Jakarta APBD Rp80 trillion means 5 percent Rp 4 trillion, if divided by 267 urban villages to Jakarta it is free in Jakarta at the level of Rp 30 billion to Rp 40 billion a year," explained Aziz.

According to him, the younger generation of NU must be actively involved in solving the social welfare problem, especially at the local NU sub-district or branch level.

According to him, the resolution of social problems referred to in the regulation is related to the issue of the elderly, underprivileged, orphans, spiritual studies to waste. Aziz views that the younger generation of NU can contribute in this regard.

"So if then IPNU cadres can start to be oriented to strengthen themselves and their influence in their respective urban villages, I think is a strategic step," explained Aziz.

On the other hand, according to him, the formation of this agglomeration will also leave homework in terms of spatial synchronization and transportation.

"The hope is that from the younger generations of NU Jakarta and its agglomeration there can also be votes, clear aspirations about how NU positions in the context of DKJ and its agglomeration areas," said Aziz.

Head of the Fatwa Division of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) Asrorun Niam Soleh said that what is important and must be considered when Jakarta is no longer the capital city is a new culture that will enter the DKJ later.

"What is much more important is that it is related to culture because the increasing industrialization will definitely have an impact on the development of a new culture," said Niam.

He highlighted that currently, Jakarta's original physical culture has been eroded a lot. Niam said that the task of the younger generation of NU is to ensure that the process of forming DKJ and its agglomeration will not make Jakarta lose its original culture.

"The cultural strategy has a physical (and) non-physical, physical and spiritual strategy, there is economic development but there is a spiritual aspect and that's where NU has an extraordinary solemn field and who will enter, all colleagues (the younger generation of NU), we wait another 25 years to meet me," explained Niam.

Because, according to him, the IKN, DKJ and its agglomeration areas will only be perfectly formed in the next 20 years, precisely in 2045.

"That will be the actor, colleagues at the age of 40-50 years will be the governor, the entrepreneur, the head of the RT, the city council and so on," he explained.

The message is that the younger generation of NU in Jakarta must start preparing themselves from now on. Because, there are many things that must be prepared to oversee the transition from DKI Jakarta to DKI Jakarta to DKJ.

"Starting today, prepare scientifically, prepare for ideological resilience, our social cohesion which will later become extraordinary social capital," concluded Niam.

In line with Niam, the Chairman of the Central Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI), Ubaidillah, also said the same thing. He advised the younger generation of NU to be prepared to become the main actors of DKJ and its agglomeration areas.

"Don't let the young NU residents not get involved in the agglomeration process, that this opportunity is the same given by law but we don't play a good important role in that process," he explained.
