Passenger Ship Sinks In Anambas, Three People Die
Three people died when the Samarinda ship carrying 40 passengers sank in the waters of the Anambas Islands Regency, Riau Islands.
"Three victims died," said Head of Operations Section (Kasi) of the Natuna Regency Basarnas Office, Budiman, as reported by ANTARA, Friday, July 26.
Budiman explained that the accident occurred on Friday at around 17.00 WIB, and at the time of the incident the weather was shady.
"The passenger transport wooden ship is usually used by the Anambas community, its operating hours are morning and afternoon," he said.
He said 37 survivors had been evacuated in a safe place. "There are also critical ones but the data is not certain," he said.
"There were victims who were evacuated to Tarempa and some were evacuated to Mataak," he explained.

The temporary suspicion that the ship swayed and sank was due to many passengers sitting on the top of the ship.
"These victims are employees who serve in the Tarempa area and want to return to Matak," he said.
In addition to carrying passengers, he continued, the ship also carried several motorized vehicles.
"We sent a team of three people and one RIB 02 to help evacuate victims," he said.
