Honda Only Showcases Step WGN Hybrid At GIIAS 2024, Unexpected Visitors Response
TANGERANG - In the 2024 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS), PT Honda Prospect Motor (HPM) brought two new electrification models, one of which was Step WGN who carried a hybrid system.
This medium-shaped van is a direct competitor to Toyota Vexy and Nissan Serena in the Japanese market. Although it has been introduced to the public in the country, the model is only for display.
The manufacturer only displays it to find out the response and interest of visitors to this vehicle. However, HPM admitted to accepting interest beyond predictions.
Sales & Marketing and After Sales Director of PT HPM Yusak Billy, said that his party had received 1,000 respondents regarding Step WGN. Of these, 98 percent of them expressed interest in buying it.
Of the nearly 1,000 respondents, 98 percent expressed their intention to buy at a varying price. 8 percent of them want to buy with IDR 700 million and above, 40 percent is in the range of IDR 650-699 million, and 24 percent is below it," said Billy when interviewed by the media at ICE BSD, Tangerang, Thursday, July 25.

Billy also added that there are some visitors who seriously want to buy it by entrusting their business card to their party so that they get the unit first.
"In fact, someone has submitted a business card to our team and asked them to launch it first. There are already dozens of people who have really intentions, so we are considering selling it," added Billy.
Billy admitted that his party was surprised about this. Because Step WGN was initially presented to see the market and it turns out that this has the potential to stimulate the automotive market in Indonesia.
"At first I wanted to see it because the market was no longer good. But looking like this because of the new model and the new segment, this can excite the market," added Billy.
Unfortunately, Billy did not want to reveal the launch time of Step WGN. However, he hopes this car can launch in the country as soon as possible.
"With this big interest, we really hope to be able to launch in 2025. We are really considering being able to launch as soon as possible," concluded Billy.
