Golden Visa Officially Launched, Apindo Boss: This Is What We Have Been Waiting For

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Employers' Association (Apindo) welcomed the launch of Golden Visa Indonesia today. Apindo Chairman Shinta Widjaja Kamdani said that his party strongly supports the Golden Visa.

"We really support this Golden Visa. This is what we have been waiting for and I think foreign investors are also taking this as an opportunity," Shinta said when met by reporters at the Ritz Carlton Hotel, Jakarta, Thursday, July 25.

Shinta admitted that her party had seen Golden Visa in a number of countries and it was very profitable. Because, it can attract more investment.

"We have also seen in several existing countries, this is also very helpful in terms of investment in the country. So, we really support this Golden Visa," he said.

When asked further which sectors have the opportunity to get more investment, Shinta answered that all of them had very open opportunities.

However, according to him, most foreign nationals (WNA) who receive Golden Visa are usually investors in the property sector.

"I said the sector is open, yes. Because the company's investment, right, it could be any sector. But, what is clear is that they can also invest in property, real estate. Most Golden Visa is taken from that side too, but actually companies in various sectors can take this opportunity," he said.

Previously, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) officially launched Golden Visa. Golden Visa is a special visa that will be granted to foreign investors with large investments to stay longer in Indonesia.

Jokowi said the government wanted to make it easier for foreigners to invest and work in Indonesia. Of course, the foreign nationals targeted are quality citizens, ranging from celebrities, investors and others.

"We will launch Golden Visa to make it easier for foreigners to invest and work in Indonesia and attract more good quality travelers," said Jokowi when launching Golden Visa at the Ritz Carlton Hotel, Jakarta, Thursday, July 25.

"I invite the citizens of the world to come to invest and work in Indonesia," he continued.
