KPK Waits For DPR Special Committee Request To Handle 2024 Hajj Implementation Dispute
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said it could only wait for coordination from the DPR RI Special Committee (Pansus) to take care of the chaos in the implementation of the 2024 Hajj pilgrimage. Pick-up balls cannot be done just to prevent intervention.
"KPK respects the process carried out by the DPR RI through the Hajj Special Committee by not intervening," said KPK Spokesperson Tessa Mahardika to reporters, Thursday, July 25.
Tessa said the anti-corruption commission would certainly not intervene in the process carried out by the special committee. The institution only moves if there are findings that can be followed up.
"Of course, coordination will be carried out if there is a request from the special committee in the process or after there is a conclusion that can be followed up by APH, including the KPK, regarding the alleged corruption case," he said.
As previously reported, the DPR agreed to form a special committee for Hajj supervision in the 21st Plenary Meeting. A total of 30 council members came from all factions.
Later, Luluk Nur Hamidah, who is a member of the special committee, said that they found indications of corruption in the implementation of the 2024 Hajj pilgrimage. This finding complements indications of the transfer of the Hajj quota that is not in accordance with the law.
The Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Muhaimin Iskandar, said that he had signed a permit for the Hajj Anggat Special Committee meeting. The implementation is just waiting for the members' readiness.

"The meeting might be waiting for friends. There are still a lot of them in the area because of the recess. I hope that this recess is busy, yes, the time is set," he told reporters when asked about the inaugural meeting of the special committee, Sunday, July 21.
Meanwhile, the appointment of the Chairperson of the Hajj Special Committee will be discussed internally. The leadership of the DPR RI will not be involved.
