DKI Provincial Government Plans to Propose a Budget to Increase Reservoirs and Pumps, DPRD Chair: I'll Knock the Gavel
JAKARTA - Chairman of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Prasetyo Edi Marsudi, invited the DKI Provincial Government to submit a budget to increase the construction of reservoirs and the placement of pumps in flood-prone areas.
Because, according to Prasetyo, flooding is still a serious problem that has not been resolved since the leadership of the previous governor.
So, if the Water Resources Service (SDA) asks for a budget for flood control, Prasetyo promises to grant it.
“Maybe you need a reservoir, you need a pump, apply here. Later at the Banggar meeting I will knock the gavel. But if you don't pay attention there, the flooding problem will not be solved," said Prasetyo in his statement, Thursday, July 25.
On the other hand, the chairman of the DKI Jakarta DPRD faction also urged the DKI Provincial Government to repair the sheet piles on all rivers and rivers, especially on the broken safety embankments.
“So I asked for consent on how to deal with it. Until now, the flooding in Jakarta has not finished, if this is covered everything will be resolved," said Prasetyo.
Prasetyo gave an example of one of the flood countermeasures that was deemed successful at Pantai Indah Kapuk. This is because pumps installed under the sea are managed properly and correctly.
"If you want to go on a working visit, how to deal with floods is under the sea at Pantai Indah Kapuk. That means the pumps are correct," stressed Pras.
Previously, Prasetyo also highlighted two classic Jakarta problems, namely flooding and traffic jams. On the one hand, there is often a discontinuity between the current governor's flood control program and the previous governor's.
"The floods during the time of Jokowi, Ahok, Mr. Djarot continued with the sheet piling, plastered all the way to the sea. Is the question of Jakarta not flooding? I say, it's definitely still flooding, but that's where it's minimized," explained Prasetyo.
"Now it's a headache as governor, when asked about the problem of flooding, the answer is definitely a headache. But yes, the previous leader's (program) has to be continued, all of it is covered. So when there is still flooding (after being covered), then make an absorption well or whatever form it takes," he added.
