Carbon Exchange Will Facilitate International Transactions
JAKARTA - The Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX Carbon) ensures that the Carbon Exchange (IDX) in its system is ready to facilitate or serve transactions, both at the local and international levels.
"Basically, IDX Carbon in terms of our system is ready to make local and international transactions. And later, the procedure will be the same for the perpetrators who transact on the Carbon Exchange," said Director of Trade and Exchange Member Regulation of PT Bursa Efek Indonesia (IDX) Irvan Susandy quoting Antara.
In line with that, the Director of Carbon Exchange Supervision of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) Lufaldy Ernanda explained that the Carbon Exchange can carry out international trade at this time, without having to wait for the issuance of the Regulation of the Minister of Environment and Forestry (Permen LHK).
"So far, it can actually happen, later some suppliers, in this case only have a carbon unit, only want to trade (internationally)," said Lufaldy.
A few months ago, he explained that the OJK had coordinated with the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Kemenko Marves), the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri), and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemenlu).

Meanwhile, regarding the voluntary carbon market, he explained that there are thousands of potential suppliers in the midst of high demand.
Of the five sectors of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC), namely the energy sector, industrial processes and production use (IPPU), waste, agriculture, and forestry, he explained that until now the trade in allowances has only occurred in the power generation sub-sector.
"In the energy sector, only a sub-sector has occurred. So, we are waiting for the other four sub-sectors from the Carbon Exchange development perspective, that's driving the system, one of which is if the NDC mechanism is to allow it to occur in all sectors," said Lufaldy.
