Police Ask Fishermen To Attack Goods From Containers Floating In Ketapang Waters Lampung

South Lampung Police Chief (Lamsel) AKBP Yusriandi Yusrin asked all fishermen in the area who found items from containers floating in the sea waters of Ketapang District to hand over to the local police.

"This is the man's item, yes, there is the owner. If later they find similar items, please secure them and can be entrusted to the officers, because maybe later the ship owner or the owner of the goods comes to pick them up," said AKBP Yusriandi Yusrin, in Kalianda reported by ANTARA, Monday, July 22.

According to him, the items found by the fishermen came from a container that fell from the Glorie Indah 1 Cargo Ship which allegedly sank in the waters of the Thousand Islands, Jakarta on Wednesday, July 17, 2024.

He said the containers found by the fishermen contained food and cigarettes that had floating in the Ketapang Sea, South Lampung.

The police chief explained the chronology of the discovery of items in the waters of South Lampung, starting when fishermen were looking for fish at sea and then found a floating container on Saturday (20/7) night.

"At that time our fishermen were going to the sea and found the container, there were cigarettes, pressmen, hawkers and so on," he said.

Not only the discovery of the goods, but the South Lampung Police Satpolair has also secured a number of drums containing fuel oil (BBM).

"Satpolair has gone down to the scene, including the Meditation Police as well, we have also secured several drums containing fuel oil from the incident," he said.

For information, previously it has been widely circulated on social media about videos of hundreds of fishermen finding and taking goods from containers floating in the waters of South Lampung.
