Ship Sank In Tanjung Priok, Three People Died Because They Could Not Swim
JAKARTA - Kadispen Koarmada I Marine Lt. Col. (P) Laode Muhammad confirmed that the ship sank in Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta. This ship sank carrying 16 fishermen who had just returned from fishing.
"They came back from fishing and then the engine died. "The number of fishermen (passengers, red) is 16, then when the engine is turned off, they are adrift because the weather is bad enough to keep hitting the breakwater in Tanjung Priok," Laode told reporters, Sunday, March 21.
"Then the ship broke, they fell into the sea," he added.
As a result of this incident, three of the 16 passengers died. The reason is that they cannot swim so they cannot survive.
"They float. Three of the 16 people died because they could not swim. Not able to survive, huh, "he said.
All victims have now been successfully evacuated to Pondok Dayung. When the incident occurred, Dislambair and Kopaska immediately rescued the victims.
"Here we are like a quick response, so if there is a marine accident around here it can be immediately resolved. So at the time of alert there was a report that someone drowned near Pondok Padung and then he went straight to it," he concluded.
