PDIP Invites Activists To Urge Jokowi To Make The Incident Of Kudatuli Serious Human Rights Violations
JAKARTA - Chairman of the PDI-P (PDIP) DPP Ribka Tjiptaning urged President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to include the Kudatuli Tragedy or the July 27, 1996 riots as a case of gross human rights violations.
Ribka conveyed this insistence in the discussion 'Kudatuli, We Don't Forget' at the PDIP DPP office, Menteng, Central Jakarta on Saturday, July 20. PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri was present online while Democratic People's Reform Movement (PRD) activists, Wilson Obrigados; as well as PDIP DPP ranks such as Sri Rahayu, Yuke Yurike, ction Triyana, and party wing organs were present in person.
"We agreed on how to urge Jokowi that this July 27 incident should be included in gross human rights violations," said Ribka in the activity.
Ribka regretted Jokowi's attitude in not including the Kudatuli incident in the list of 12 cases of gross human rights violations after the recommendation from the Non-Judicial Team for the Settlement of Serious Human Rights Violations.
The 12 incidents of gross human rights violations were, the 1965-1966 incident; the 1982-1985 mysterious shooting incident; Talangsari incident, Lampung 1989; Rumoh Geudong and Sattis Post, in Aceh 1989; the disappearance of people by force in 1997-1998; the May 1998 riots; Trisakti and Semanggi I and II events 1998-1999.

"We will protest and fight for the July 27 incident to be included in gross human rights violations. Agree?" said Ribka.
"Agreed", replied the discussion participants boisterously.
Ribka then invited elements of the people, especially PDIP cadres, to activists to fight to urge President Jokowi. Thus, this incident was included as a violation of past gross human rights.
"We can't if we don't fight against each other, we have to be together. We agree that we all fight here together," said Ribka.
