KKP: The Issuance Of Permen 7/2024 Will Optimize The Management Of Indonesian Lobster

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) said that the issuance of the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Regulation (PermenKP) Number 7 of 2024 will optimize sustainable lobster management and ensure the benefits of lobster clear seeds (BBL) for small fishermen and the development of domestic cultivation.

"The birth of this regulation is a momentum for optimizing lobster management in Indonesia. At the same time encouraging the development of lobster cultivation in Indonesia, one of which is through the process of transferring lobster cultivation technology by inviting investors or business actors who have great experience and reputation in cultivating lobsters," said Director General of Aquaculture. KKP Tb Haeru Rahayu in an official statement quoted from the KKP official website, Saturday, July 20.

In line with TB Haeru, Secretary of the Directorate General of Fisheries, Budi Daya KKP Gemi Triastutik, said the regulation aims to encourage the development of lobster cultivation in Indonesia with the support of the implementation of lobster cultivation technology that has been developed abroad.

"In the implementation of the latest lobster governance regulations in Indonesia, support and synergy are needed from both fisheries, local and private governments. No less important, support and escort from related ministries/agencies such as the Indonesian Quarantine Agency, the Directorate General of Customs and Excise at the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Trade," he explained.

Gemi also expressed his hope that the meeting of stakeholders in the management of lobster cultivation could encourage the implementation of the latest lobster governance regulations to run optimally, from the BBL capture side, lobster cultivation to the marine crude use monitoring system.

"This moment is a forum for coordinating and strengthening communication between all stakeholders in lobster governance. Utilizing this stakeholder meeting event as best as possible so that our common goal is achieved, namely, improving the welfare of fishermen, cultivators and the community," he explained.

Meanwhile, Head of the Public Service Agency (BLU) of the Payau Water Cultivation Fisheries Agency Situbondo Boyun said, in the current implementation of BBL management, BLU received BBL from small fishermen registered in legal cooperatives/KUBs and met technical requirements such as a certificate of origin (SKA) from the district office and a health certificate from the authorities.

BLU DJPB can also only cooperate with cooperatives/KUBs that already have a quota for catching BBL.
