2024 President's Cup Sponsorship Fund Increases By IDR 20 Billion In 3 Days

JAKARTA - Good news was conveyed by Maruarar Sirait as Chair of the 2024 Presidential Cup Steering Committee regarding sponsorship income to support this pre-season tournament.

Maruarar said that within three days the sponsorship value income increased to Rp20 billion. This is considered a positive surprise for Maruarar because at the launch of the 2024 President's Cup, Monday, July 15, 2024, he conveyed that the sponsor's revenue had only reached Rp48 billion.

"Now the value of our sponsors is Rp68 billion, yes, from six companies," said Maruarar Sirait when giving a statement at Si Jalak Harupat Stadium, Bandung Regency, before the opening of the 2024 President's Cup, Friday, July 19, 2024.

"Imagine IDR 68 billion, which means it will increase by IDR 20 billion within three days. That's a significant increase, a very positive surprise, you know," he said again.

Specifically, Maruarar Sirait explained that the rapid increase in the sponsorship value of the 2024 President's Cup was due to the trust of the giver.

Trust arises because of a number of aspects that are taken into account have never missed the target in previous years.

"(The rapid increase occurred) because of the trust of sponsors, high ratings, audited by PWC, and not using state money, state budgets, BUMN, and ABPD."

"I think the industry should be like that. If it is more transparent, it will be more useful," he said.

The 2024 President's Cup will run from July 19 to August 24, 2024. There are eight teams from Liga 1 who will compete for the prize champion of IDR 5 billion.

In the first edition, Persib Bandung made history by coming out as champions. Arema FC is the most diligent club in winning the champion title because they won the President's Cup three times (2017, 2019, and 2022).

Meanwhile, Persija Jakarta had one title when they won the 2018 Presidential Cup.

The edition this time will mark the sixth implementation of the President's Cup with the largest total prizes compared to the previous edition.

Regarding the prizes disbursed in the 2024 President's Cup, they did not use APBN, APBD, and BUMN funds, but came from private sponsors.
