2 Trans-Provincial Bus Burnt Out By Fire In Flames At Batoh Aceh Terminal, Machine Short-circuit Allegedly Triggered
ACEH - Two cross-provincial buses were burnt on fire while parking at Batoh Terminal, Banda Aceh, Saturday, March 20. It is strongly suspected that the cause of the fire was triggered by a short circuit in the engine during repairs.
"There is a bit that needs to be repaired, so there was a short circuit during the repair, causing a fire", said the Head of the Banda Aceh Batoh Terminal, Heriyanto, as quoted by Antara.
He said the two buses were of the type of Patas Scania and double-decker belonging to Simpati Star. At the terminal, the two are parked close together. One bus caught fire, the fire spread to other buses.
"The first fire appeared from Patas Scania, the fire spread quickly so that there was no time to escape the double-decker bus, so it immediately caught on fire", he said.
Hariyono conveyed that the two burning buses entered the terminal to prepare for the evening departure. Before leaving, some improvements were made.
There were no fatalities in this fire. When the fire started, the bus driver was not in the vehicle. Until now, his party has not known the total losses caused by the incident.
Head of the Banda Aceh Fire and Rescue Service (DPKP) Rizha said that in the process of extinction and cooling, his party deployed five firefighters.
During the blackout process, the DPKP was also assisted by personnel from the Banda Aceh Police, the Kodim, the local Koramil, and RAPI volunteers to secure the location of the incident.
"There were no casualties, the cause of the fire is suspected to have been short-circuited, but further developments are still being investigated by the police", he said.
