Via Vallen Sings The Theme Song 'Raya And The Last Dragon', The Video Clips Show Indonesia's Cultural Diversity
JAKARTA - Disney Indonesia released a music video for the theme song for the film Raya and the Last Dragon, We Can, which was performed in Indonesian by Via Vallen. This video clip can be watched on the YouTube channel DisneyMusicAsiaVEVO since last Friday.
Launching Antara, Sunday, the music video, which was directed by Gilbert March, shows a variety of beautiful and interesting Indonesian specialties, from culture to the beauty of the flora.
Raya and the Last Dragon, which took inspiration from Southeast Asian culture, including Indonesia, was poured into four sets, namely wayang, batik, Pencak silat, and natural beauty similar to Indonesia.
Apart from the set, this cultural element is also manifested in the costumes used by Via, namely clothes with the Megamendung batik motif by local designer Ernesto Abram.
"The concept of this video clip is very simple, but I try to be able to show the diversity of Indonesian culture to the world while at the same time bringing Indonesian cultural elements from this film closer to the fans", said Gilbert March.
Furthermore, March said that the video also featured nine batik motifs from various regions in Indonesia. The director said he was trying to find authentic and diverse batik fabrics to portray the motto of Bhineka Tunggal Ika.
In collaboration with Kuklik Batik, a batik market platform that was inaugurated by the Ministry of Education and Culture and initiated by the Indonesian Batik Canting Foundation, the batik fabrics featured in the video clip We Can come from various regions.
Not only from Java, such as Wonogiri, Yogyakarta, and Cirebon but also featuring some batik from Bengkulu and Bali regions.
Several types and motifs shown include; Megamendung, Parang, Poleng, Besurek, Jlamprang, Remekan, Kembang, Kawung, and Lung-Lungan.
Apart from batik, Tegar Abdillah Akbar was also attended as an athlete at the Jakarta Provincial Student Center for Education and Sports Training, who was involved as a Pencak silat choreographer in the video clip Kita Bisa.
Tegar strives to present the art of Pencak silat by using the Team Style category which shows 12 moves that must be performed simultaneously with a compact movement.
On the other hand, the singer Via Vallen revealed that the process of making the video clip Kita Bisa was the biggest production for him, with the process of filming the video clip the longest, which took up to 24 hours.
"Even so, thanks to the spirit of cooperation of all the crew involved, the shooting process went smoothly and the results were very satisfying", said Via.
The diversity and beauty of Indonesian flora have also not gone unnoticed. In building a forest setting, March with his team of art director, Adi Djohan, used native trees and flowers from Indonesia to create an atmosphere of Kumandra's land that has the same natural features and beauty as Indonesia.
March and Adi worked together to build a forest with a tropical rainforest concept using plants ranging from banyan trees, ferns, moss, to orchids. There are at least 50 species of plants and trees arranged in such a way in a 20-meter wide studio for nearly 30 hours.
Meanwhile, Raya and the Last Dragon starring Kelly Marie Tran as the voice actor for Raya and Awkwafina as Sisu has been present in Indonesian cinemas since March 3, 2021.
