Doctors and medical personnel are fighting very hard and risking their lives to care for patients, are at great risk of contracting the virus, are afraid of bringing the virus to people at home, plus there are also those who have to lose their colleagues and family because of the corona virus which of course gives deep sadness.
Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) Moh. Adib Khumaidi, launching CNN Indonesia, March 20, said that many doctors and health workers currently have burnout syndrome. In fact, the number is up to 85 percent. This is because they are under prolonged stress.
Medical workers have a tough job. They were stricken with exhaustion, but they also couldn't be sure it would end sometime. Of course, other workers can experience the same thing. All communities can be stressed because of uncertainty, fear, plus financial problems for those affected.
So, what is burnout syndrome and why does this happen?
So what is called burnout syndrome is prolonged stress. The causes are various, for example the inability to control what is happening now and affect work, unclear images of work, poor dynamics at work, monotonous types of work, lack of social support, as well as unbalanced work and personal life. have time apart from work.
There are several signs or symptoms that are typical with burnout syndrome, among which you often feel tired. Days of anxiety, feeling drained of energy, upset stomach, and limp all the time.
Another sign is that you feel frustrated with work that is so confusing that you end up getting fed up and alienating yourself from activities at work.
In the end, all of this has an effect on decreasing performance. Prolonged stress makes it less productive, difficult to concentrate, and sensitive to work matters.
Symptoms of burnout can also have a physical effect, such as always being tired, often feeling sick, frequent headaches and muscle aches, experiencing sleep disturbances, and drastically reduced appetite.
As for the symptoms that affect psychological conditions such as feeling a failure, doubting yourself, feeling that nothing helps, feeling alone, loss of motivation, being more negative and cynical, and dissatisfied with work results.
Even worse, the burnout also made the habit different. You become neglectful of responsibilities, like to isolate yourself from co-workers, often postpone work, consume alcohol and drugs, vent frustration in negative ways, even reluctant to do work.
