A Total Of 8 Terrorists Suspected In Medan And Tanjung Balai North Sumatra Were Arrested

MEDAN - The National Police's Densus 88 Anti-terror Team arrested 8 suspected terrorists in Medan City and Tanjung Balai, North Sumatra.

"The Densus secured as many as 8 suspected terrorists from Tanjung Balai 2 and Medan 6 people. All of them from different places from these suspects", said Head of Public Relations of the North Sumatra Regional Police, Kombes Hadi Wahyudi, Friday, March 19.

However, Hadi could not confirm the group of eight suspected terrorists. Currently, said Hadi, Densus 88 is still interrogating the eight suspected terrorists.

"Now it is being explored, the Densus teams are being deeply interrogated. Regarding which group, the Densus is still investigating, the complete information is by the Densus", continued Hadi.

"After exploring, of course, the authority is in the hands of the Densus, whether to follow up, whether to take it to Jakarta or Medan, we will see the progress, currently it is still in Medan", said Hadi.

Previously, as many as 22 terrorist suspects arrested in East Java were taken to the Cikeas Detention Center, Bogor from Surabaya.

They were dispatched to Juanda Airport using two buses from the East Java Regional Police, Thursday, March 18. With a tight escort from the Special Detachment (Densus) 88 Police Headquarters personnel, who are fully armed.

A total of 22 suspected terrorists were arrested in several areas in East Java. Namely in Sidoarjo Regency, Surabaya City, Mojokerto, Malang and Bojonegoro. They are, FA, FU, NA, SS, AY, TS, YA, RZ, BR, YP, EP, YT, AI, AS, RA, ZA, ME, IE, HS, AR, BS, and HAB.

From their hands, Densus 88 also confiscated a number of books, including the title 'Tarbiyah Jihadiyah' by Assyaikh Dr. Abdullah Azzam, 'Mimpi Suci di Balik Jeruji Besi' by Ali Ghufron, 'Sekuntum Rosela Pelipur Lara' by Imam Samudra and the book 'Wasiat Syuhada 'WTC' by Abul Abbas Az-zahrani.

Apart from books, Densus 88 also confiscated several other pieces of evidence, such as dozens of sharp weapons, dozens of charity boxes, as much as IDR 197 million in cash, and several other pieces of evidence.
