More Save, Central Tapanuli Fishermen Use Electricity From PLN SPLU At Fish Auction Places
PT PLN (Persero) has succeeded in providing savings for fishermen in Central Tapanuli through the assistance of procuring 4 units of Public Electricity Provider Station (SPLU).
PLN's innovation, part of the Electrifying Marine program, has proven to be able to cut the operational costs of fishing by up to 70 percent.
Electrifying Marine is the use or transition of electricity utilization for operational activities in the maritime sector, one of which is by using SPLU. Through this program, fishermen can accelerate the loading and unloading process of fishing vessels at the Fish Auction Site (TPI) of Sarudik District, Central Tapanuli Regency.
General Manager of PLN Main Distribution Unit (UID) North Sumatra Saleh Siswanto said SPLU could support the fisheries and marine sector in Central Tapanuli Regency. So that loading and unloading activities from the sea at the dock can run more efficiently.
"SPLU in the Electrifying Marine program is an innovation of PLN which is a manifestation of PLN's transformation to improve electricity services that are easier, more affordable, reliable and clean for fishermen and business actors," said Saleh, Saturday, July 13.
Saleh emphasized that PLN will continue to encourage the Electrifying Marine program by replacing the electricity needs of ships that have so far had to start an oil fuel-based engine (BBM). Thus, ships anchored or docked can use PLN electricity to facilitate the activities of fishermen more.
The presence of this program can support operational cost efficiency for ships that dock. Both fishing vessels, tourism vessels, and others so that they can have implications for increasing the economic wheels of the surrounding community," Saleh continued.

Prior to the SPLU, the process of loading and unloading fish with a requirement of approximately 2 hours had to start a machine that required the use of fuel for lighting. Hutagalung, one of the fishermen's ship owners, said he was grateful for the SPLU assistance from PLN.
"After using the SPLU, we don't need to start the engine because we just need to plug in for ship lighting during the loading and unloading process of fish. So that it can reduce operational costs to buy fuel. The use of SPLU is proven to reduce operational costs by 70 percent," said Hutagalung.
