Through Pretty Girl Rock, Neona Shows Her Songwriting Skills

JAKARTA - Teenage singer Neona launched her latest mini album entitled "Pretty Girl Rock". There are five songs in it, including "Yes You Do, No I Don't" which was released last May.

This mini album opens with "Pretty Girl Rock" which is the focus track. This song raises the theme of girls supporting girls and the importance of support between fellow teenage girls.

Next there is "Yes You Do, No I Don't" which raises the theme of rejection of love and "Y So Serious?" which is intended to be a theme song for relaxing and enjoying free time.

Apart from that, there is "Should I Go/Stay" which shows Neona's vocal character in R&B accompaniment. Then, "I Think.." as the ending describes the feeling of happiness when someone begins to realize that they are in love.

Regarding the preparation of the album, Neona was actively involved in the song creation process, including when writing the songs. She even went through a special workshop to write these songs. The workshop was held for five days and was assisted by Tatsuro Miller (producer from Malaysia) and Simhala Avadana (A&R Trinity Optima Production).

In the process she has gone through, Neona expressed what she wanted to say through her songs. She also admitted that most of the inspiration for the songs on this mini album were based on her personal stories and the stories of her closest friends.

Simhala assessed Neona's musical development as good. He said that many of the ideas on the album "Pretty Girl Rock" came from the 15 year old singer.

“This collaboration with Neona is fun. At a very young age, she contributes a lot of ideas and she even knows what she wants, in terms of lyrics, beats, and so on. So, working on this album was really fun," said Simhala Avadana in his statement, Friday, July 12.

Meanwhile, Neona admitted that she was not confident when she was asked to be involved in writing songs, but it cannot be denied that she was proud of what was produced.

"At first I wasn't confident about being involved in the songwriting process, but with Tatsuro and Mr. Mhala, after hearing the results, I'm proud of myself, and I'm very satisfied with the results. I hope the messages from this song are conveyed well, and that enjoy listening," concluded Neona.
