When The Country Is Late, People Take Personal Initiatives, Puan: No Viral No Justice

JAKARTA - The Indonesian House of Representatives officially closed the session period V for the 2023-2024 session at today's plenary meeting, Thursday, July 11. In his speech, the Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, mentioned the 'no viral no Justice' phenomenon where justice must go viral first and then be legally processed.

"When the country is late or felt that it does not respond as it should, the people take their own initiative, which is currently being carried out by going viral on social media: No Viral, No Justice," said Puan at a plenary meeting at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday, July 11.

According to Puan, this is a challenge for policy makers. Especially for state power holders such as executive, legislative, and judicial institutions. "It's time for these state power institutions to implement it effectively to handle people's affairs," said Puan. Puan. Puan ensured that the DPR was highly committed to being able to fulfill people's expectations through its functions. The PDIP legislator stated that the DPR RI would continue to strive to be able to realize people's lives that are getting better, more advanced, more prosperous, and more easily. Let us, the honorable members of the DPR RI, continue to work with a high commitment to continue to build a strong institution of the DPR RI substantially, orderly in carrying out authority and democracy with solidarity,'' said Puan. On the same occasion, Puan revealed that the DPR RI together with the Government had approved 55 Draft Laws (RUU) to become Law (UU) during this trial period. One of them is the Law on Maternal and Child Welfare in the First Phase of Life which is expected to strengthen the role of the state in ensuring the welfare of Mothers and Children. DPR RI during this trial has also approved 33 Draft Laws into the Proposal Bill on the Initiative of the DPR RI and will continue to discuss a number of bills that are currently still under discussion of Level I Discussions during the next trial. Council members, said Puan, will also remain focused on being able to resolve it until the Last Session of the DPR RI for the last period 2019-2024.

"On behalf of the leadership of the DPR RI, I announce to all Indonesian people, from July 12 to August 15, 2024, the DPR will enter a recess period," concluded Puan. The DPR session will begin again on August 16, 2024 as well as the DPR's annual session in the context of the 79th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia.
