KIM Coalition Breaks In Banten Gubernatorial Election? AHY: Politics In Regions Is Not Always The Same As A National Portrait
Chairman of the Democratic Party Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono talked about the issue of political parties in the Forward Indonesia Coalition (KIM) that brought Prabowo-Gibran in the 2024 presidential election.
One of them can be seen from the 2024 Pilkada map of Banten Province. Where, the Gerindra Party carried Andra Soni-Achmad Dimyati in the Banten gubernatorial election with a number of other political parties.
Meanwhile, the Golkar Party firmly wants to summon former South Tangerang Mayor Airin Rachmi Diany in Banten.
AHY emphasized that since the implementation of the 2024 presidential election, KIM has collaborated to seek togetherness in his political steps. However, AHY admitted that the political dynamics in the regions cannot always be equated with national ones.
"We also realize that it is not as easy as imagined because local politics in the area is not always the same as portraits at the national level," AHY said at the DPP Democrat Office, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, July 10 evening.
When talking about regional elections, according to AHY, political parties have their respective mappings regarding the nomination of their regional heads. This could have been prepared before the formation of the 2024 presidential election coalition.
"There are places that can't be together, yes. That's possible. We'll see today's political reality and until whenever, that's it. So, it's something natural," explained AHY.
However, AHY emphasized that there are areas that make the coalition axis that carry Prabowo-Gibran continue in the regional elections. One of them is the East Java gubernatorial election.
The Democrats are now officially carrying Khofifah Indar Parawansa and Emil Dardak running as cagub-cawagub East Java.

Previously, the Gerindra, Golkar, PAN, and PSI Party had also issued a recommendation for the incumbent pair.
"There are areas that we can unite and be strong. For example, East Java. Why? Because we also see the chance of victory, track record, and good relationship so far," he added.
