Cilacap's Green Refinary Project Still Continues, KPI Is Looking For Investors

PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional (KPI) ensures that it is still advancing to complete the Cilacap Green Refinery. Just so you know, this National Strategic Project (PSN) has a biofuel capacity target of 6,000 barrels to realize the government's target for the 23 percent New Renewable Energy mix (EBT) by 2025.

KPI's Director of Planning and Business Development, Isnanto Nugroho, conveyed the openness of KPI to attract strategic partners for the Cilacap Green Refinery.

"We make sure that the Cilacap Green Refinery project is still continuing and on track. Currently, KPI is implementing a strategic partner selection process. We are open to collaborating with potential partners, including banks, export credit institutions and multilateral institutions," said Isnanto, Wednesday, July 10.

The giant Green Refinery Cilacap project opens up opportunities for cooperation.

On the same occasion, Isnanto explained several advantages of the Cilacap Green Refinery as the target of investment. These advantages include project status that has been used as a National Strategic Project (PSN) so that it is supported by an existing policy framework. In addition, the Cilacap Green Refinery will be built on Pertamina's existing land.

KPI's Corporate Secretary, Hermansyah Y Nasroen agrees that the total strategic value of the Cilacap Green Refinery is the target of investment.

Green Refinery Cilacap, he said, could answer the challenges of products that are more environmentally friendly, because the Cilacap Refinery can produce Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil, Sustainable Aviation Fuel and Bionafta.

In addition, the project can provide added value to the nation because it is useful for processing abundant biofuel resources in Indonesia.

"This is further strengthened considering that KPI as the parent company of Pertamina's refinery and petrochemicals has experience and expertise in the refinery business," explained Hermansyah.

The project, which is targeted to add production capacity from 3,000 barrels to 6,000 barrels, is allocated to produce HVO, SAF, Bionafta from Used Cooking Oil (UCO). The new unit from the Cilacap Green Refinery will be equipped with infrastructure including Palm Oil Treater, Faractionator, and Offsite facilities.

The Cilacap refinery itself is an example of an integrated refinery that is in line with the energy transition. The Cilacap refinery has now completed the green refinery phase 1 project and will be developed with phase 2 which aims to increase the hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) processing capacity from the current 3 KBPD to 6 KBPD as well as the ability to increase the vegetable component at SAF from 2.4 percent to 100 percent.
