Proposed Since 2016, The Jakarta KTR Raperda Is Included In The 2025 Discussion Priority
JAKARTA - The Regional Regulation Formation Agency (Bapemperda) of the DKI Jakarta DPRD has started to develop a program to form regional regulations (propemperda) for discussion in 2025.
One of the draft regulations that will be discussed next year is the Draft Regional Regulation (Raperda) for Non-Smoking Areas (KTR).
This Raperda was proposed since 2016. In recent years, the Raperda KTR has been included in the provincial regulation, but it has not been discussed until now.
Deputy Chairman of the Bapemperda of the DKI Jakarta DPRD Abdurrahman Suhaimi admitted that the Jakarta people had been waiting for the legal umbrella regarding the prohibition of smoking in certain areas.
"It is a concern for all of us, we will continue to carry out the procedure, hopefully (discussed) in 2025," said Suhaimi in his statement, Tuesday, July 9.
If later the KTR regional regulation is ratified, Suhaimi hopes that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government can make regulations, it can protect the people, especially children, from the dangers of exposure to cigarette smoke.
"Automatically it is not prohibited from smoking but placed properly, so that the impact of smoke does not affect the environment," he said.
For information, the executive has proposed 24 regional regulations to be discussed next year. Among them are three regional regulations that must be discussed in 2025, the Raperda title on the Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget for Fiscal Year 2026, the Raperda on Amendments to the Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget for Fiscal Year 2025, and the Raperda on Accountability for the Implementation of the 2024 Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget.
