Exploration Of Energy Transition And Decarbonization Issues, RD20 Summer School 2024 Meets Young Researcher Of G20 Countries

JAKARTA - The National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) held a Research and Development 20 (RD20) Summer School 2024. This event gathered young researchers from G20 countries to explore important issues related to energy transitions and decarbonization efforts, in order to realize a sustainable energy system.

Carrying the theme 'Diversity of Knowledge on Decarbonization in Just Energy Transition Mechanism,' this event will take place on 8-13 July 2024 at Hotel Ibis Styles Serpong BSD, South Tangerang, BJ Science and Technology Area. Habibie, South Tangerang, and Bogor Botanical Gardens.

The 2024 RD20 Summer School presents comprehensive programs that include topics such as sustainable energy transitions, circular economies, smart grids, artificial intelligence in energy, and solar energy development. These sessions provide participants with valuable insight into the development of the latest technology and its utilization, particularly in the field of renewable energy and decarbonization efforts. Head of BRIN Laksana Tri Handoko stated that we are currently facing serious challenges due to climate change. Development of renewable energy and decarbonization strategies is becoming increasingly crucial.

RD20 Summer School is a testament to BRIN's commitment to encouraging innovation and collaboration among young researchers around the world. Together, we can pave the way for a sustainable future," said Handoko.

Head of the BRIN's Energy and Manufacturing Research Organization Cuk Supriyadi Ali Nandar added that the RD20 Summer School aims to unite solution and innovative thinking to overcome the complexity of energy transition strategies and decarbonization efforts.

"By sharing knowledge and experience among scientists, we are trying to equip young researchers to develop sustainable solutions in the future," he added.

BRIN Development Policy Deputy Mego Pinandito confirmed that the summer school program bridges theoretical knowledge and practical applications, prompting participants to actively contribute to changes in the landscape of energy systems in the future.

According to Mego, the role of renewable energy and decarbonization is very important for Indonesia's future. BRIN is committed to leading this effort through research and innovation.

"RD20 Summer School is not only encouraging on the academic side, but also promoting international collaboration among the next generation, involving scientists and practitioners in the energy sector," Mego stressed.

Participants were also involved in interactive workshop sessions, panel discussions, and networking sessions, to increase participant understanding of the complexity of achieving a sustainable energy transition.
