JAKARTA - British Airways flights to England experienced an incident due to bad weather. The wings of the British-based airline were struck by lightning.

Quoting Metro.co.uk, British Airways is from Stuttgart Airport, Germany. The plane is scheduled to arrive at British Heathrow Airport on Monday 8 July at 13.40 local time.

However, due to the incident the plane was forced to turn around and land as soon as possible at London's Gatwick Airport, or about 40 kilometers away from its destination to Heathrow.

One of the passengers on the flight shared a moment on social media when the wing of the plane was struck by lightning.

In his upload, the passenger also praised the flight crew who could calm the situation.

#hocking flight from @British_Airways today *this is a joke, the crew were amazing when our flight got trucked by lighting on the approach to Heat and had to divert to Gatwick. Amazingly, someone learn it on video! pic.twitter.com/YERuZ4JYeg

According to the United States (US) National Weather Service, commercial passenger aircraft are expected to be struck by lightning once or twice each year.
