Jokowi Immediately Moves Offices In IKN When Water, Electricity, And Supporting Infrastructure Are Ready
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo is still waiting for the readiness of supporting infrastructure for himself based in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN), East Kalimantan, which was previously estimated to start in July 2024.This was emphasized by Jokowi after releasing Indonesia's assistance for disaster management in Papua New Guinea and Afghanistan, at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, Jakarta, Monday, July 7."Is the water ready yet? Is the electricity ready yet? Is the place ready yet? If you are ready, move," Jokowi said as quoted by Antara.Jokowi admitted that he had received a report from the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) regarding infrastructure readiness at IKN, such as water, electricity to the President's office to be occupied. From the infrastructure report, it is not ready to be used."We have (received the report), but not yet (ready). Already, but not yet," said the President when asked by the media crew about the infrastructure readiness report from the Ministry of PUPR.On the previous occasion, President Joko Widodo was optimistic that he could have an office in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN), East Kalimantan, starting in July 2024 after the supply of raw water was available."Very optimistic for his office. This is still waiting for just one (for) the water (ready) in July," said Jokowi when reviewing the construction of the Presidential Palace complex at IKN, in early June.Jokowi explained that the water supply in IKN will come from the Sepaku Semoi Dam in North Penajam Paser Regency, East Kalimantan, which was inaugurated on Tuesday (4/6)."Just waiting for the pump to raise the water and then flow it to buildings and houses in the capital city of the archipelago," said President Jokowi. In line with that, the Head of the Presidential Secretariat (Kasetpres) Heru Budi Hartono said that the realization of President Jokowi to have an office in the capital city of Nusantara is still waiting for the readiness of basic infrastructure in the area."We will see the development of existing infrastructure," said Heru when met on the sidelines of the launch of the logo of the 79th Indonesian Independence Day at Wisma Negara, Jakarta, at the end of last June.
Some of the infrastructures that are still being prepared include clean water supplies and IKN airports, which will be located in North Penajam Paser Regency, East Kalimantan.Although airport construction is targeted to be completed next August, Heru said further checking is still needed and ensuring the airport's operational permit.
